Attribute Group Example

The ATTRIBUTE GROUP template is used to define groups of attributes. This template is only a convenience for the interface designer. It has no affect on the syntax carried between the open systems.

        name  ATTRIBUTE GROUP
                GROUP ELEMENTS   attribute ...;
                FIXED;
                DESCRIPTION   description ;
        REGISTERED AS  object identifier;

The GROUP ELEMENTS attribute defines the attributes that are members of the group. This clause is optional.

The group of attributes may be fixed or extensible - if the group is extensible an attribute may be added when the group is used in a particular package definition.

The description is simply a delimited text string. It is normally a plain English description.

The REGISTERED AS object identifier is a unique identity that is used in the protocol to identify this particular attribute group.
