During the mid-1990s the Object Management Group and others
developed a new model of interaction based on fully object-oriented
techniques. In this model each object is able to interact with other objects
irrespective of where those objects are located; the objects may be on the
same system, in the same local area, or somewhere remote but will still have
the same interactions between the objects.
The ITU-T developed the following basic documents:
X.703
Open Distributed Management Architecture (ODMA)
X.704
ODMA Viewpoint Notations
X.770
ODMA: Notifications, Selection and Dispatch Function
X.780
Guidelines for the Definition of CORBA Managed Objects
Work on these and other specifications is
continuing and new documents will be published.
